Peanuts from Sudan

Omsco Group of Companies works closely with Fakiireldin Balla for Export & Import – the Sudanese company which is an important part of our Group for more than 5 years.  We have built strong and trustworthy relations between our companies and for the past 5 years we export sesame and peanuts from Sudan in close cooperation with them.

Sudan is considered as one of the major export markets of the peanuts, it is used to be one of the world’s top exporters of peanuts, moreover Sudan’s western states produces 70% of the country’s groundnut supply. Since peanuts depend on rainfall to survive, devastating droughts in these regions have significantly affected the farmers abilities to produce high yields. It is an annual plant growing from 1.00 to 1.6 ft tall with opposite leaves and yellow pea flower-shaped flowers. Peanuts grow in light and require five months of warm weather with little rain and since the flower stalk elongates then bends until the ovary touches the ground then the ovary is pushed underground where the fruit develops into the peanut.

Peanut, Groundnut, Foul Sudani or Arachis Hypogea – those are the names for peanuts.

Peanuts are considered as a favorite food not just because of nutritional value, it can be stored for long periods of time, and can be used in cooking as nuts. Peanut oil is more healthy comparing to saturated oil, and it is free of trans-fat.

Peanuts have over 30 essential nutrients and phytonutrients and are a good source of fiber, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin E and other vital elements. Since they contain niacin, they contribute to blood flow to the brain. As a source of many heart-healthy nutrias, peanut may help prevent heart disease. What is more important, peanuts reduce the risk of gallstones.
